Here you will find both electronic and mechanical thermometers.
Electronic Thermometers:
Probe Thermometers: Used to measure the internal temperature of food and beverages by inserting the probe. They can also be programmed to alarm at a certain temperature.
Infrared Thermometers: Measure the temperature of surfaces by reading the infrared radiation emitted by the object. Perfect for measuring the temperature of food without needing to touch it.
Wired Digital Thermometers: Have a wire connected to the probe that can be placed in or on the food while the reading is displayed on a separate screen. Useful for long-term cooking where you want to monitor the temperature continuously.
Mechanical Thermometers:
Bimetallic Thermometers: Use two different metals that expand at different rates when heated to display the temperature. Commonly used in ovens and refrigerators.
Spring Thermometers: Have a spring that expands or contracts with temperature changes, moving a needle on a scale. Often used in ovens, grills, deep fryers, and other large kitchen appliances, as well as meat thermometers.
Glass Thermometers: Contain a liquid, usually mercury or alcohol, that expands and rises in a glass capillary as the temperature increases. Common in laboratories and medical environments.
Advantages of Mechanical Thermometers: No need for a power source, durable, and easy to use.
